Unicoil Steel Mill, Jubail, Saudi Arabia

Jubail, situated in the east of Saudi Arabia, is one of the country’s two main industrial zones. Approximately 100 km2 are covered with industrial plants. One of the many companies in Jubail is UNICOIL – Universal Metal Coating Company - which operates a steel mill with painting line.
In 2003 UNICOIL decided to extend its existing coil coating factory substantially. In December 2003 DYWIDAG Saudi Arabia, a 100% affiliate of DYWIDAG International, was awarded the contract for the civil works for a new process line. The technical equipment was delivered by Italian Danieli.
The civil works started in April 2004 and were terminated in February 2006. The contract included the planning and the turnkey implementation. It comprised soil improvement measures, foundations for steel bays, buildings, auxiliaries and infrastructure works as well as the mechanical, electrical and structural steel erection works. The four new production lines (push-pull pickling, cold reversing mill, galvanizing line and inspection, recovery and slitting combination) significantly contribute to an increase of the plant’s production capacity and a diversification of UNICOIL’s product portfolio.
